THE Premier Soccer League yesterday said they have started investigations on Yadah goalkeeper Godknows Gurure attack after the 3-2 defeat to Ngezi Platinum on Friday.

Ngezi Platinum had to come from behind in that game after going down 2-0. Indications on the ground are that the player sustained head injuries after the attack by the alleged club sponsor, and a police report was also made.

Yadah on the other hand have condemned the attack saying the said official did not act on behalf of the club.

In response to an official complaint made by the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe, PSL said they are in the process of compiling official reports from the game.

“We have requested the concerned club to submit detailed reports in addition to the match reports in order for us to establish the facts surrounding this incident,” said PSL.

“The league takes such matters seriously and has commenced investigations into the incident.

“The safety, security and welfare of players, officials and all stakeholders remain our top priority and appropriate measures will be taken in line with our rules and regulations once all relevant reports have been reviewed.” Yadah said: “We stand unwaveringly behind our goalkeeper and will pursue every available legal avenue until justice is achieved. We will cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities, all stakeholders and demand that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.”
