Guspy album launch a flop

GUSPY Warrior comprehensively lost the battle of album launches to Jah Prayzah as his event on Thursday night flopped.
The launch of his album, Wedzera Mawatts, which was billed for Horizon Pub and Grill failed to kick off after the artiste did not turn up. Only seven people were at the venue hoping to see him.

Jah Prayzah on the other hand successfully launched his album, Kumbumura Mhute at the Rainbow Hotel on the same night. Though the event attracted a sizeable number of people, Jah Prayzah did not disappoint as he put up a spirited act. Songs from his latest offering which proved popular were the title track Kumbumura Mhute and Mukadzi Wangu. Kumbumura Mhute which means “raising the dust” is likely to be a hit as it is a party track.

Botswana’s Charma girl who featured on one of Jah Prayzah’s tracks sent the crowd into a frenzy when she made a guest appearance on stage. So energetic was she that the crowd stood and joined them in dance. Sandra Ndebele who was also meant to perform at the event disappointed as she failed to show up. She was instead spotted performing at the Independence Gala held in Harare at the time she was meant to be warming up the stage for Jah Prayzah. Her absence did not spoil the show though as Jah Prayzah’s band, Third Generation, did a good job, keeping guests on their feet.

It was obvious either Guspy or Prayzah was going to be disappointed by not getting as much people attending their show unfortunately it was Guspy. He is said to have arrived in Bulawayo yesterday afternoon in time for a show at Stop Over Bar in the evening.

When Saturday Leisure pressed Guspy’s manager to reveal if Guspy Warrior had come to Bulawayo, the call was disconnected. Thinking it was a network problem we tried to call him again. The cellphone rang and was cut off. After that the line was off.

The Seunononga hit maker has to stoop low as his song suggests and pick up his pride.

Music that was heard thumping from outside the venue where he was meant to launch his album was South African house music.
A clearly disappointed show promoter DJ Joe the OG blamed the weather for the measly turnout.

“I think the weather is what deterred people from coming to the show. It is cold and this is an open place on top of that it was in the middle of the week,” he said.
The show was supposed to start at 8PM and people were trickling in and out of the venue.

As one climbed the steps towards the venue one would think that Guspy Warrior was on a break or hadn’t taken to the stage and people were being entertained by the resident DJs.

However, when one got to the door it was evident that there was not much activity as even the bouncers were not interested in manning the doors. DJs who started hyped-up ended up disconnecting their equipment just before midnight after noticing that the artiste would not perform.
