DANCEHALL music lovers will be in for a rare treat on Thursday evening as Guspy Warrior (real name Emmanuel Manyeruke) will invade Bulawayo for an album launch at Horizon Pub and Grill.
The 12-track Wedzera MaWatts album launch will see the Seunononga hit-maker performing in the city for the first time. The new offering which was produced by Legendary Music Sounds has the track Shaina which is already riding high on local charts and Love Yako which features Jah Prayzah.
Guspy, who is gospel musician Mechanic Manyeruke’s son, did a remix of one of his father’s gospel tracks on the new album. The song has a reggae beat with gospel lyrics. Other tracks on the album include Vana Inhaka and No Man.
The Bulawayo launch follows a successful Harare launch held at the Harare Gardens last month which saw dancehall heavy hitters Dhadza D, Freeman, Souljah Love, Killer T, Bounty Lisa, Jiggaz and Ricky Fire gracing the event.
In an interview yesterday, Guspy Warrior’s manager Taurai Marakwani said Guspy would perform with the Mafia 19 family.
“The Mafia 19 DJs and youngsters will raise the curtain for Guspy Warrior,” he said.
Guspy Warrior will also be supported by local DJs Lacusto, Mellow T and Phat Joe.
Blacktroop Entertainment, organisers of the event, said they were frantically looking for Bulawayo artistes to share the stage with Guspy.
“We are looking for some local acts to curtain raise for Guspy Warrior. We want at least two opening acts from Bulawayo,” said Joe the OG.
Guspy Warrior has made a name for himself on the local dancehall scene. He has shared the stage with top Jamaican artistes including Capleton, Jah Thunder and Elephant Man.
Some of the dancehall chanters’ popular songs off his previous albums include Love Yako, Summer Time, Ghetto Youths, Usarambe, Mastaera and Dancehall Champion which features Sniper Storm and Dhadza D.
The chanter is inspired by Jamaican musicians such as Sizzla Kalonji, Gentleman and Turbulence to mention just a few.
