Dancer-cum-MUSICIAN, Sandra Ndebele, who rose to fame after performing at different musical galas in the country, will on Thursday do what she does best when she performs at the Independence concert taking place at the Borrowdale Racecourse in Harare.
Dubbed “Jive Zimbabwe 34”, the concert, which will be held on the eve of Independence Day, will run under the theme “Jive for self-determination”.
Besides Ndebele, the Independence gala will feature performances from artistes, Alick Macheso, Iyasa, Tariro Negitare, Soul Jah Love, Sulumani Chimbetu, Sniper Storm, Sebastain Magacha, Mathias Mhere, Leonard Zhakata, Edith Weutonga, Baba na Amai Charamba, Hope Masike, Babongile Skhonjwa and Doc Vhikela.
Skhonjwa, who will be the MC at the event, said he was thrilled to have been given such an opportunity.
“I feel great that I will be the MC at such a national event. Presenting this year’s Nama’s in Bulawayo greatly exposed me and these are the fruits of that exposure,” he said.
Macheso also promised his best in song and dance.
“We will do our best to make sure that people feel that we are free in this country,” he said.
The event will be broadcast live on ZBCtv from 2100hrs to 0000hrs.
One of the organisers of the show Marian Kunonga said all was set for the concert that is meant to celebrate the country’s independence.
She said all the artistes had confirmed their participation at the Independence celebrations.
“Everything has been put in place and all the artists have confirmed their participation at the event and a lot is expected on that day,” she said. – Harare Bureau/Showbiz Reporter
