SUPERSTAR Oliver “Samanyanga” Mtukudzi will on Sunday take his 61st birthday celebrations to Gweru when he stages a family show at Musopero Liquid Lounge.Tuku, as Mtukudzi is popularly referred to by his fans, will be joined on stage by South African musician Freddy “Amadhamara” Gwala and Mukudzei “Jah Prayzah” Makombe.
Show organiser, Tafadzwa Maridadi said Midlands fans should come in their numbers because this will be Tuku’s last show in the province this year.
“The availability of Freddy Gwala adds flavour to the show and everyone now knows what Jah Prayzah is all about. It will be non-stop entertainment from 2pm on Sunday,” he said.
Fans will get a rare chance of seeing Jah Prayzah and Tuku doing the live collaboration on the song Cecilia, which is on the album Tsviriyo.
“The two have a good working relationship and both will be leaving for the United Kingdom together with Sulu at the end of this month,” said Maridadi.
He said Gwala was already in the country and fans should expect a good performance from the Amadamara hit-maker. In a separate interview, Jah Prayzah called on fans to come in their numbers saying he will be at his usual best.
“I will be sharing the stage with two veteran musicians and I have to be at my best. I fill honoured to be performing with these two great singers,” he said.
Tuku’s manager Sam Mataure said the Gweru show will be a show to remember.
“The band is in great shape and as usual we will try to give our fans value for their money,” he said.
