GWANDA Pirates are set to unveil new signings as they prepare for the Zifa Central Region Soccer League campaign with promotion to the Premier Soccer League firmly in sight.
The mining town side fell short last season as Hardrock claimed the title after a tight race. Sheasham finished second while Gwanda Pirates settled for third place.
Under former Highlanders and Warriors midfielder Johannes “Tshisa” Ngodzo, the club impressed in its maiden Division One campaign.

Secretary-general Dumolwenkosi Dube said the club will announce new players soon as preparations gather pace.
“Our head coach wants to retain most of the players from last season for the 2026 campaign and that has been our priority as we work to secure and improve their contracts,” said Dube.

“We have secured about five new signings who will be announced soon. We are also assessing players from outside Zimbabwe and if they fit into the coach’s plans we will move to sign them.”
Dube said the club remains without a sponsor and is relying on supporters who are raising funds to keep operations running.
“Our constitution is clear on how supporters operate. Each chapter has its own leadership and they work as affiliates of the club. They plan and implement their own strategies as long as they do not conflict with club policies,” he said.
“At the AGM supporters pledged to raise funds after recognising that we do not have a sponsor. These efforts are helping the team and will assist us in signing additional players identified by the coach.”
Dube said preseason preparations are underway with several matches lined up.
“Our preseason has already started and we played Dulibadzimu this past weekend. More matches will be announced soon and we believe the programme will help us prepare well to compete for the top spot,” he said.
