GWANDA based Destiny Life Ministries International leader and self-proclaimed Prophet Tatenda Makasi has embarked on a programme to assist the disadvantaged in the mining town by providing them with basic needs.
The Pentecostal church pioneer, said they want to ensure that families are well fed as part of their corporate social responsibility.
The programme which is set to run during the course of the year was launched at the church’s Crossover night on New Year’s Eve where hundreds of people thronged Gwanda District club.
The pilot programme saw about 40 disadvantaged people from and around Gwanda town being supplied with basic needs.
Using church funds and contributions from well-wishers notable among them Skeviour Sibanda, Prophet Makasi said they are helping to alleviate the plight of the less-privileged in society, which is part of the church’s mission.
“We held our last event of the year which was attended by around 800 people and I gave back handsomely to the community with help of business people who have a big heart to give to their community and these include Skeviour Nkosi Sibanda Moses Zabula, Sis Noe wholesalers and shops and Pinworthy shop.
“The donations targeted the less privileged, elderly widows and orphans. We gave them consignments that included mealie meal, cooking oil, flour and sugar among other basic commodities. Our plans is to make such events common and give a better life to the community of Gwanda through our efforts,” said Prophet Makasi.
