Tsamwai Gwekwerere who was arrested by Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) for selling State land appeared today before Chinhoyi Magistrate Rumbidzai Chuma facing a fraud charge as defined in section 136 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act.
He was convicted on his own plea and was remanded in custody for sentencing on 23 September.
Allegations against Tsamwai Gwekwerere are that sometime in February 2024 he sold a piece of land in Pemhiwa Village to Dr Maria Goss.
The piece of land belonged to the state and forms part of the grazing land for the Mariga community in Zvimba. After that ZACC got a tip-off about the illegal land deal and pounced on him leading to his arrest.
