A MALE STUDENT at National University of Science and Technology (Nust) was found dead in his room while his remains were in a decomposed state.
The name of the student is withheld since his next of kin is yet to be informed.
A source at the higher learning institution said some students who were passing by the room of the deceased were stopped by the pungent smell and flies which were flying around the door and window.
Following that the concerned and worried students rushed to inform the caretaker. The caretaker informed the security guard and they went to open the door.
“They found the body of the deceased lying on the bed and with no signs of injuries. And it was in an advanced state of decomposition,” said a student who witnessed the incident.
The body of the deceased was ferried to United Bulawayo Hospital (UBH) for post-mortem.
Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and said: “We confirm the incident and we cannot reveal the name of the student because his next of kin is yet to be informed,”he said.
