Gweru hosts chiefs’ conference

MIDLANDS province will from tomorrow until Friday host the annual Chiefs’ Conference to be held at the Conference Centre in Gweru.
President Mugabe will officially open the conference tomorrow.The conference will end on Friday and Vice-President Joice Mujuru is expected to give the closing remarks.

Traditional leaders from all corners of the country are expected into the city today.

An official from the Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Cde Jason Machaya’s office said the province was ready to play host to the chiefs’ conference.

“We have been holding meetings to ensure the event is a success. Everything is in order. We are expecting our guests, mostly chiefs, to start arriving tomorrow (today). The Head of State and Government, Cde Mugabe will officially open the conference on Thursday while VP Mujuru will give the closing remarks on Friday,” said the official.
