Gweru hosts ZLGU interprovincial championships

tournament that is likely to draw the best golfers from around the country.
The Harare team, which will be led by top woman golfer Claire Minter, is expected to dominate the championships.
Minter was the best golfer last year with 65 points on the Order of Merit and remains the one to beat.
Manicaland province will bank on Polly Crew who won the A Division Order of Merit last year with 37.5 points.
Harare should also feature prominently in the B Division with Warren Hills’ Connie Mashiri their trump card.
Meanwhile the new ZLGU president, Marita Kahwema, is looking forward to a successful season.
“We are looking forward to a great golfing year and 2012 is promising to be a great golfing year from both the players and sponsors’ point of view.
“Main events include the AACT to be hosted by Botswana in June and the A & B Triangular set for Zimbabwe at Chapman in July.”
