Police in Gweru are investigating a gruesome murder case in which a man allegedly killed his wife in cold blood before he left her body on the bed with their six-month-old baby boy. According to neighbours, the six-month-old baby suckled and cuddled with his mother’s body for nearly 24 hours, only to be found stuck beside his mother’s lifeless body when he started crying.

Acting Midlands police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende confirmed the incident yesterday, saying they had launched a manhunt for the suspected slayer, Tanaka Rusike. She said Nozipho Tecla Mpofu (21)’s body was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

“Police in Gweru are investigating a murder case in which a 21-year-old woman, Nozipho Tecla Mpofu died after she was battered to death by her husband,” Tanaka Rusike.
