The City of Gweru has ordered all vendors to vacate the central business district (CBD) by Friday, warning that vending will no longer be permitted in the area after the deadline.
In a notice, City of Gweru spokesperson Ms Vimbai Chingwaramusee said vendors operating in designated CBD areas would be required to observe new operating hours.
“Effective immediately following the CBD vacation, the operating hours for vendors are strictly regulated as follows: Central Business District vending operations, where designated, will run strictly from 6 am to 6 pm,” she said.
“Residential market areas: vendors operating within designated residential market areas are permitted to operate from 6 am to 8 pm.”
The city urged all vendors to comply with the new regulations and operating hours.
“Failure to comply will result in enforcement action by the relevant authorities, which include confiscation of goods and prosecution,” she said.
