A pastor from a prominent congregation in Gweru was on Friday questioned and released by police on allegations of being involved in homosexuality.
Aleck Muchabayiwa of Southdowns suburb was allegedly found in possession of a sex tape of his shenanigans. The police arrested Muchabayiwa after trapping him with his 22-year-old male lover Leroy Magezamoyo of Mambo suburb, who had been apprehended on Thursday for sexual harassment. Magezamoyo was arrested for sexual harassment after he caressed two college students and fondled their manhood after which he demanded anal sex.
Magezamoyo had lured the two students using cakes, chocolate bars and soft drinks.
“Magezamoyo confessed to the police that he has been having gay relationships for the past 12 years,” said a police source. “Pastor Muchabayiwa was picked up by police after they stumbled upon text messages in Magezamoyo’s mobile phone in which he was communicating with the man of the cloth with regards to their homosexual escapades,” a police source said. The police used Magezamoyo’s phone to pose as Muchabayiwa’s alleged lover and lured him to a meeting. He showed up at the agreed meeting point, where he was arrested and a check of his mobile phone revealed the videos of him in homosexual activities.
“Pastor Muchabayiwa also confessed that he started having homosexual relationships after a member of his church, who was gay, approached him for counselling and the two started having a homosexual relationship,” said the police source. When The Herald visited Gweru Central Police Station, Muchabayiwa was being released from the holding cells after spending a night inside.
He was not formally charged, while Magezamoyo remained in custody and will appear in court today facing sexual harassment charges. When contacted for comment Muchabayiwa said: “I don’t know what you are talking about,” before hanging up.
