Gymnastics championships at the University of Zimbabwe at the end of the month.
The annual event, which will draw participants from Mashonaland East and Mashonaland West, is pencilled for July 30. The gymnasts will be broken up into the appropriate sections and age groups.
This event will mark the end of the competition season (the gymnastics season runs from October to August in Zimbabwe) for the juniors.
Zimbabwe Gymnastics Association vice-president, Chris Muchatuta, who is also a head coach for drastic gymnastics, said they were happy to host the event.
“The aim of the competition is to crown the National Champions in each age group and section. For this reason competitors compete as individuals despite being brought forward as regions and schools.”
“We are happy to host the event and we are more than ready for the event,”said Muchatuta.
From this competition the National Artistic MAG and WAG, and trampoline teams will be selected which will take part in the Zone VI championships in Namibia in December.
The team will test its readiness at the Lotto Classic in Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa in October.
Those who excel in these competitions will travel to the African Championships in Tunisia in April 2012.
