H-METRO SCHOOLS INITIATIVE A MASSIVE HIT

H-Metro Reporter

OUR initiative, to reserve two pages of H-Metro every day to pictures of activities in our schools, has been a huge hit with schools, parents and students.

The demand from schools, who now want pictures of their activities to be published on the two pages, has risen considerably.

“Initially, when we started, it was space we reserved for sporting activities in the schools, which we felt were not getting the publicity, which they deserve,” said Robson Sharuko, the H-Metro Editor.

“Then, we sat down, and decided to spread the coverage to all the activities, which happen at our schools like, let’s say, when they tour.

“We first detected that interest in this initiative was exploding when we checked the numbers, which view these pages, when we post them on our social media platforms, like Twitter.

“Then, suddenly, we started getting parents calling us with enquiries as to how they could take their kids to learn at a school we would have featured because they liked something from the pictures they saw.

“That’s amazing impact as far as we are concerned. Newspapers have become a forum largely for a lot of negative stuff but we believe that there are some positive things happening nationwide.

“We believe that pictures of our students, even just smiling, provide a perfect image that it’s not just about doom and gloom. We are humbled by the support that we have been getting from the headmasters, teachers and parents in this initiative.”
