QUEENSPARK West — A respected Bulawayo businessman left jaws on the floor and kids in tears after allegedly turning into a wild monster, chasing, bashing, and dragging his ex-wife by the hair in front of their children in a terrifying street attack!

The madness happened on 22 March at around 1PM when Nesbert Mapfumo (30), a local businessperson, rocked up at the home of his ex, Audrey Chiketa (35), supposedly to “see the kids.” But instead of a family visit, the businessman reportedly delivered a dose of brutality!

“He insulted my parents, so I walked away to avoid drama,” a visibly shaken Chiketa told the Magistrate Courts at Tredgold Building in Bulawayo. “But he chased me down like a mad dog. He hit me so hard I fell. Then he grabbed my hair and dragged me along the tarred road like a sack of potatoes. Our children saw everything — our youngest was screaming ‘Daddy, stop!’”

Audrey said she managed to bite his hand to break free, but the damage was done — she was left battered, bruised, and broken.

But the horror didn’t end there. Chiketa exposed her ex not just as a violent man, but also as a deadbeat dad who only shows up to cause chaos.

“He doesn’t pay maintenance. I had to take him to court to force him to support his own kids. Even after I got a protection order, he still came back like a man possessed.”

Mapfumo, through his lawyer, denied the claims, saying:
“She’s fabricating this to tarnish my name. It’s all lies. I never touched her.”
But residents who witnessed the attack said otherwise.

“We heard her screaming and came out. What we saw looked like something from a horror movie,” said one neighbour. “It’s hard to believe that’s the same man who wears a white coat!”
Mapfumo was hauled before magistrate Beverly Madzikatire, facing a charge of physical abuse. The case was remanded to 12 May.

Meanwhile, traumatised residents are still talking, the kids are scared stiff, and Chiketa says all she wants now is justice.

“This man must be stopped before he kills someone.”
