POLICE have added handball to the list of games for the Southern Africa Regional Police Chiefs Corporation Organisation (SARPCCO) Games.
Sixty-three police officers drawn from all provinces underwent a Handball Level 1 Course and awarded with certificates last week.
In her speech, police chief staff officer responsible for Training and Development, Commissioner Priscilla Makotose said Handball will be added to police regional competitions.
“As Zimbabwe Republic Police, we have the capacity to produce renowned handballers considering the vast talent pools of young and energetic athletes that we have at both Mkushi Police Academy and Ntabazinduna Depots.
“We shall as Training and Development, continue to support ZRP athletes so that they continue to lift the organisation and national flag high,” said Commissioner Makotose.
Zimbabwe Handball Federation president, Beauty Mutsambiwa hailed police athletes for taking the sport. “We want to commend police for taking handball,” said Mutsambiwa.
“Handball has new rules and regulations and these will be cascaded to the right people,” she said. Among the 63 participants, 23 were female.
