THE Zimbabwe Handball Federation (ZHF) successfully concluded their D Licence coaching course, where 26 participants sought to get the international qualification.
The course, which started in Harare on April 23, ended on Monday and was conducted by Zoltan Marczinka from Hungary. Of the participants, two were from Zambia and one from South Africa.
ZHF collaborated with the African Handball Confederation (AHB) and the International Handball Federation (IHF) in organising the course.
The coaches had a golden chance to obtain the highly coveted certification required to coach a national team, according to ZHF secretary general, Edson Chirowodza.
Chirowodza told Zimpapers Sports Hub that they were pleased to have concluded the course well.
“The course ran well and the majority of the participants passed with flying colours, of which we are pleased. Twenty-six participants were being taught by Zoltan Marczinka, an internationally respected expert in handball coaching. Among the attendees, were two from Zambia and one from South Africa.
CAHB now requires all aspiring coaches at the international level to possess a D Licence.
“The importance of having this course is that we are giving coaches the opportunity to gain knowledge, acquire new skills, so that they align themselves with international coaching standards,” said Chirowodza.
The coaching course was last held in the country in 2018, where there were 150 coaches taking part.
Meanwhile, the ZHF is preparing to host the 2024 International Handball Federation Zone six championships in Harare next month. They will also conduct a beach handball coaching and officiating course during the same month.—@NkosieLegend
