The August school holidays start this week and DStv is serving up a season of exciting adventures, magical creatures, family favourites and brand-new shows for young people of all ages.
Gerald Ngonyamo, head of corporate affairs and public relations of MultiChoice Zimbabwe, said school holidays were a time for increased attention to family viewing and for content that kept young people entertained during their break from school, studies and sport.
“On DStv there is a recognition of this and there’s a wealth of great programming set up to make sure the holidays have a measure of added fun.”
Here’s just some of what’s on offer on CBeebies, Disney Junior, Cartoonito, Cartoon Network, DreamWorks, Nicktoons and Nick Jnr:
Preschoolers’ fun and adventures
My Friend Maisy, Monday to Friday starting August 3 and 3.40pm. Maisy the mouse leaps from the pages of Lucy Cousins’ beloved books onto the screen in this charming new animated series. From moon missions to whimsical dreamscapes, Maisy’s boundless imagination proves that every day can be an adventure.
Magicampers, Saturdays and Sundays throughout August at 3.45. Young explorers Darly and Loomis return for more magical quests at a fantastical camp filled with extraordinary creatures.
Whether they’re climbing Melody Mountain or exploring the Never-Ending Cave, every adventure promises fun, friendship and discovery.
RoboGobo series 2, Saturdays and Sundays from August 8 to 29, 12.25pm. The heroic rescue pets are back. Dax and Team RoboGobo now have upgraded Robo-Suits that transform into powerful Robo-Vehicles as they continue helping animals in need and saving the day.
Bedtime Stories, Monday to Friday from August 3 to August 14, 8pm. Wind down the day with Ryan Reynolds as he reads classic and contemporary children’s stories brought to life through imaginative animation and playful storytelling.
Cartoon comedy and family favourites
Masha and the Bear Song Fest, Sundays from August 9 to 30, 2pm. Sing, dance and laugh along with Masha in special Sunday marathons celebrating the lovable little girl and her adventures with Bear.
Mr & Mr, Monday to Friday from August 17, 4.30pm.
Two comedy legends share the spotlight in this hilarious afternoon block featuring Mr Bean: The Animated Series and Mr Magoo. Expect misunderstandings, mischief and lots of laughs.
Tom and Jerry: Blast Off to Mars, Monday August 10, 9.40am. Tom and Jerry accidentally join the first manned mission to Mars and discover an alien world full of danger and excitement. The famous rivals must work together to save Earth from invasion.
Action-packed adventures for older youngsters
Goat Girl, Monday to Friday from August 10, 5.20pm. Raised by mountain goats, 13-year-old Gigi faces a whole new challenge when she begins life at boarding school.
This quirky comedy follows her hilarious attempts to fit into human society while staying true to herself.
Lego City: No Limits MAX, Monday to Friday from August 17 to September 1, 4.20pm.
Get ready for weird, wild and wonderfully unpredictable adventures. Jason and his friends face zombies, cowboys, strange creatures and one very mysterious banana in this brand-new animated series.
Game of Crowns, Saturdays and Sundays from August 8 to September 6, 4pm. King Julien takes control in this hilarious Madagascar spin-off.

New friends, new worlds and big laughs
Wylde Pak, Monday to Friday from August 10 to August28, 5.15pm. Lily and Jack are half-siblings suddenly thrown together for the summer, forcing them to navigate a brand-new family dynamic.
