Judgment Day prophecy from an American prophet who said the year would end with the second coming of Christ on May 21, to the tiny few anxious about a Mayan calendar that had no room for dates beyond December 21 2012.
Many were anxious to know if any of these hoaxes were true.
Some in the media sensationalised these “prophecies” and the social media was awash with people discussing and debating whether the world would truly come to an end and what it would mean to humankind.
However, those truly rooted to their Christian faith maintained their faith in the words of Jesus that: “No one knows the day and time that the son of man would come back, except the father”.
Well let’s look at how various people will celebrate the New Year in style:
Most Christians will definitely be at church praising God and praying as they thank the Almighty for seeing them through 2012.
“I believe we are going to submit 2013 into the hands of the Lord, Christians all over the world will gather, share testimonies of the Lord’s goodness and sing praises as they crossover into the New Year together,” said Tracey Moyo from Warren Park.
Harare, in particular, is full of posters as various churches and popular preachers advertise New Year crossover church services.
To some, the New Year will be splendid as they have promised fireworks.
One song that epitomises the New Year celebrations is the late Simon Chimbetu’s “Tenda”, the track’s lyrics can be translated to mean, be grateful that the year is over and you have made it into the New Year.
Complemented by party songs like “Party Rock” and “Gangnam Style”, New Year’s eve will be buzzing all round.
Finally, as you get into 2013 please remember to bury all the trials, tribulations, pains and failures of 2012.
