Harare mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume says the City of Harare has received considerable resources from the Government directly or indirectly.

Addressing journalists on service delivery issues at the townhouse on Wednesday, Cllr Mafume said on the waste management issue, the Government has been able to give the city more trucks and more fuel through their implementing partner, Geo Pomona.

“And the results are there to see. There are fewer pictures of dumps on my timeline. There are more pictures of potholes that are coming on my timeline,” he said.

Cllr Mafume said the Government has also assisted council buy water treatment chemicals.

“That’s why we were able to contain the water chemicals situation slightly. I know that last week we had a brief interruption but we managed to push through the festive season without major interruptions because of the chemicals that we have been assisted with and also the partnership that we are beginning with water meters with Helcraw,” he said.
