Harare City to fulfil fixture against Dynamos

The Bigboy Mawiwi coached side are not happy with the way the league has courageously and constantly postponed the Battle of Zimbabwe clash between rivals Highlanders and Dynamos which has since been put on ice for the third time now.

Bosso and DeMbare were supposed to meet on 29 April but the match was pushed as the Harare giants were away to Tunisia in a Caf Champions League first round first leg tie against Esperance where they were mauled 6-0 by the Tunisian giants.

Almost a month later the match was called off again to allow the hosting of the Benjani Mwaruwari Testimonial match at the National Sports Stadium and yesterday’s national team’s clash with Burundi in an Afcon second leg qualifier put paid to any hopes of Barbourfields Stadium exploding.

“It was our opinion that we should not play this match until Dynamos engages Highlanders and early this week (last week) we made that point clear to the chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele. However, after discussions we then decided to play and let bygones be bygones.

“Ndebele also said he feared piling of fixtures so we then decided to get on with it,” said Harare City Council public relations manager and former PSL secretary general Leslie Gwindi.

Their match against Dynamos is a Week 10 clash while the much-awaited Barbourfields clash will be a postponed Week Five fixture although the league promised that all postponed matches will be played during midweek and so far they have stuck to their undertaking except for the big one.

Harare City lie 12th on the log standings with a single win, five draws and three losses while the Glamour Boys lie eighth after seven games in the process registering four wins, two draws and a single 1-0 loss to Monomotapa and find themselves nine points behind high-flying log leaders Highlanders.

Meanwhile, Highlanders are a game away from equalling their 2006 record of going for 10 games without a defeat.

They went on to lift the league title and already talk in the soccer corridors is that Kelvin Kaindu will lead them to that promised land again this year.

Bosso have so far amassed 23 points, in the process scoring 23 goals and conceding just six while in 2006 under Methembe Ndlovu they collected 30 points, scored 25 goals and conceded eight in those 10 matches.

Their first loss in 2006 came in Week 13 where they lost 1-0 to Buymore. Their first draw was in Week 11, a 0-0 draw against Motor Action who happen to be their next opponents at the weekend. Had Bosso played their match against Dynamos, the Motor Action encounter could have been their game number 11 like in 2006.
