Harare crowd fatally assaults ‘thief’

A HORRIFIC scene unfolded in Harare as a mob fatally assaulted a man who was alleged to have stolen clothes.
Bla Odza lost his life in an incident that took place on 1 December 2024, along Highway Road in Harare’s Belvedere suburb.
A mob assault on Odza and Onias Marenga (20) was sparked by allegations that they had stolen clothing, which was found in their possession in a pushcart.
In a statement on X, the police said, “Bla Odza sustained multiple bruises all over the body and became unconscious. He was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”
The murder case is still under investigation, said the police.
