Harare hosts road safety workshop to tackle traffic accidents with “Don’t Phone, Text and Drive” campaign

The Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe in collaboration with the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) are holding an all stakeholders’ road safety workshop in Harare.

It is running under the theme, “Don’t phone, text and drive”.

The vital platform brings together a diverse group of stakeholders – including Government officials, transport operators, law enforcement personnel, and community representatives – to collaboratively tackle the pressing issue of road safety.

With a focus on reducing traffic accidents and saving lives, the workshop aims to address the alarming rates of road traffic crashes, fatalities, and injuries that affect both public health and safety.

Participants at the workshop include Transport and Infrastructural Development Deputy Minister Joshua Sacco, the Permanent Secretary for Harare Metropolitan Province, Mr Cosmas Chiringa, TSCZ board vice chairperson Ms Lizwe Bhunu, TSCZ managing director Mr Munesu Munodawafa, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, transport operators who include Zimbabwe Public Transport Organisation (ZPTO) chairman Dr Sam Nhanhanga and gospel musicians Baba na Mai Charamba, who are traffic safety ambassadors.
