THE Harare City Council (HCC) has announced the passing of Sekuru Mafume, father to the capital’s mayor, Councillor Jacob Mafume.
Sekuru Mafume passed away earlier today, drawing an outpouring of condolences from civic leaders, municipal management and council staff.
In an official statement issued this afternoon, the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Rosemary Muronda, alongside fellow councillors, Acting Town Clerk Advocate Warren Chiwawa, management and staff, expressed their profound sorrow and solidarity with the mayor’s family.
“His spirit lives on in the lives he touched so deeply. We are holding the Mayor and his family in our thoughts today and in the days ahead,” the council stated.
Mourners are gathered at Number 1873, Mount Pleasant Heights.
