Police in Harare have recovered 20 goats stolen from two farmers as the crackdown against stock theft continues.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of the suspected goat thief in a statement.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of Lloyd Fibion aka “Beware” (38) on September 21, 2026, in connection with a case of stock theft,” he said.
“The arrest follows a high-speed chase on September 20, 2026, after the police stopped the suspect’s get-away car, a white Toyota Hilux, registration number AGE 1549, at the 39-kilometre peg along Harare-Bulawayo Road.
“The driver failed to comply with police instructions and sped off towards White House, where he and his accomplice abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
“The Police recovered 20 live goats, three cell phones and the vehicle. Investigations by the Police subsequently led to the arrest of the suspect in Stoneridge, Harare.”
Comm Nyathi said on September 22, two complainants positively identified the recovered goats as their stock.
He said investigations are continuing to account for the outstanding suspect.he incident comes after seven suspects were recently arrested in Nyamapanda and police recovered 82 goats and eight sheep.
