Harare property developers have launched legal action against Yu Dao Bricks (Pvt) Ltd, accusing the company of failing to deliver bricks they paid for, stalling construction.
The property developers have engaged Chizengeya, Maeresera and Partners law firm to handle the matter, which involves claims of undelivered stock, delivery of incorrect orders, and demands for refunds or full delivery within seven days.
Some of the aggrieved customers have filed police reports, with one case logged at Highlands Police Station under docket RRB6556273.
Mr Michael Materazi, who filed the case, said he decided to report the matter to the police after he failed to receive the 65 000 bricks he paid for.
“I paid for the bricks in full but 65 000 of them never arrived. I have since reported the matter to Highlands Police Station under docket number RRB6556273,” said Mr Materazi.
In another case, Mr Tangisai Mapuranga alleges he paid US$12 600 for 140 000 load-bearing bricks plus US$3 080 for transport but only received 75 000 bricks.
His lawyers are demanding delivery of the outstanding 65 000 bricks or a refund of US$8 008, warning that failure to comply will result in litigation.
Another customer, Ms Patience Zimuto, said she received the wrong type of bricks after paying for 150 000 earlier this year.
“I paid for 150 000 bricks earlier this year, but I got 70 000 bricks that were the wrong type,” she said.
“It was a huge setback since it affected construction progress, and I have been trying to get the issue resolved ever since.”
Attempts to get a comment from Yu Dao Bricks (Pvt) Ltd were unsuccessful, as company representatives were not picking up phone calls.
