While others expressed satisfaction with refuse collection some said the garbage teams refuse to empty heavy bins and even demand payment to carry extra bins.
Residents want the city to increase the number of humps. They argued their children were in danger from speeding motorists especially kombi drivers.
Mayor Muchadeyi Masunda said council was attending to the issues.
A survey by this paper around the city’s suburbs showed that the issues at the core of the residents’ complaints were similar. The survey also showed that the city was using different materials for pothole sealing in low and high density suburbs.
In the low density suburbs, the council is applying bitumen, cement and aggregate stones while in the high density areas where the majority stay, gravel which easily washes away was being used.
Mr Alexio Nyanga of Hatcliffe identified water shortages as the major issue affecting the suburb. He complained that the city continued to charge for water that it did not deliver.
