SOME churches had to look for alternative beverages after Holy Communion wine for their Passover feast ran out over the weekend.
The non-alcoholic wine is commonly used by Apostolic Faith denominations for Holy Communion.
One of the church leaders, Bishop Nicholas Ndove, told H-Metro that the beverage was scarce.
“Our team wasted fuel visiting liquor shops in search of altar wine,” said Bishop Ndove.

“We delayed conducting our Holy Communion after failing to acquire enough bottles to cover almost 2 000 people who attended our conference.
“By breaking bread and drinking wine, we will be marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“It’s a symbol of unity as we fellowship and claim our salvation, forgiveness of sins through the crucifixion of Christ,” he said.
In addition to the Passover feast, a number of churches also held music competitions featuring different choirs.
