THE HARARE Senior Swimming Championships get underway this evening at Les Brown Swimming pool, with relay events dominating the programme.

The championships are organised by Harare Amateur Swimming.

The competition runs over two weekends. This weekend’s programme will run from Friday evening to Sunday.

The competition will conclude on the weekend of December 3 to 5.

The events for today will start with the girls and boys 400m freestyle finals.

These will be followed by the girls 14-and-Under 4x100m freestyle relay and 14-and-Under boys 4x100m freestyle relay, then the 15-and-Over girls and boys 4x100m freestyle relay.

Harare swimming clubs – Spartans, Highlands, Dorados, Sharks, Otters and Pirates are set to take part in the provincial meet.

The championships will be officially opened on Saturday and Zimbabwe Olympic Committee president Thabani Gonye is the guest of honour.
