COPS have smashed a deadly syndicate of robbers, gold hunters and car thieves in a dramatic four-day blitz that saw suspects arrested across Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru and Mutare.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrests of several suspects linked to armed robbery, theft and fraud cases dating back as far as July 2023.
“This major breakthrough occurred between the 24th and 26th of July 2025,” said police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
In Bulawayo, CID Homicide detectives pounced on three notorious suspects—Mtandazo Ndlovu (40), Amard Ncube aka Jah (43), and Solomon Ngwenya (36)—who are accused of terrorising cities with a spate of violent armed robberies.
The trio was found with a Vizor pistol loaded with three live rounds, 50 rounds of 0.38mm ammunition, 15 rounds for the Vizor pistol, two 48V lithium batteries and US$3 100.
Police say the gang is linked to seven armed robberies, including the US$500 000 heist in Harare CBD on 16 June 2025.
They’re also behind a Khami Road service station robbery in Bulawayo, where robbers got away with US$31 265, R3 720 and a Toyota Runx. Another hit in Magwegwe, Bulawayo saw them flee with R83 000 and a cellphone.
“These suspects had become a menace,” said police. “Their arrest was made possible through public tip-offs.”
Meanwhile in Harare, cops foiled a planned gold carbon robbery at a Beatrice mine after arresting Fortune Banda (34), Promise Tshuma (30), Vincent “Dollar” Tembedza (27) and Queensley Ncube (25).
The crew was caught before they could strike, and officers recovered a 9mm Deryia pistol and two magazines, one fully loaded with 15 rounds.
“The suspects were planning to hit the mine hard,” said investigators.
In Mutare, car thief Marshal Munashe Munyuru (38) was busted for stealing three high-end vehicles in South Africa.
Recovered were a Toyota Fortuner, Ford Ranger Raptor, and Mercedes Benz—all linked to cases in 2023 and 2024.
Police are praising citizens for stepping up:
“We commend the public for supplying information which led to the arrest of the suspects,” said Nyathi.
“Let’s continue working together. Tip-offs can be shared on (0242) 703631 or WhatsApp 0712 800 187.”
