A Harare woman on Friday sought a protection order against her ex-boyfriend, whom she accuses of insulting and disturbing her peace.
Tatenda Chimuti told the Harare Civil Court that her ex-boyfriend Micheal Murombedzi insults and abuses her at work and at her house.
“I broke up with this man, but he does not want us to break up. He visits my workplace every day and insults my genitalia.
“I work at a hospital and this issue is causing problems even with my boss. He comes to my house any time he wants and asks me if we can reconcile, but I can’t, as I have already found another man,” she said.
Murombedzi, however, broke down in tears, saying he couldn’t stomach the idea of her former lover taking a protection order against him.
“I can’t accept the protection order because with this order I won’t be allowed to fix things between us as I will not be allowed to see her.
“I still love her; six years in a relationship is not a joke, and in this relationship, I never insulted her. We were good and, all of a sudden, she broke up with me. I can’t allow it to happen,” he said.
Presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Naratam granted the protection order and ordered Murombedzi not to visit Chimuti’s place of residence and her workplace unless he wants medication.
