Hara’s long road to ZIFA board ambitions

Online Reporter

Tavengwa Hara’s journey to becoming a candidate for the ZIFA board is a testament to his dedication, perseverance, and passion for football.

It’s a story that spans over two decades, with twists and turns that have shaped him into the experienced administrator he is today.

Hara’s love affair with football began 28 years ago when he was a young player with ambitions to make it big. However, his dreams of becoming a professional footballer and a legal practitioner at the same time were dashed when Gift Banda and Joshua Mhizha, then owners of Njube Sundowns, refused to sign him. Instead, they saw something in Hara that he didn’t – potential as a football administrator.

That rejection proved to be a blessing in disguise. Hara went on to pursue a career in football administration, and it’s a decision that has served him well. With over 25 years of experience working in football at the highest level, Hara has established himself as one of the most respected and knowledgeable administrators in the country.

As a former General Secretary of Sundowns and now General Secretary of Chicken Inn FC, Hara has been instrumental in shaping the football landscape in Zimbabwe. He played a key role in the legal process that led to the adoption of a new constitution at ZIFA, and was also involved in the rebranding and restructuring of the National Premier League, which morphed into the Premier Soccer League.

Hara’s expertise and experience have not gone unnoticed. He is a Fifa and Supersport-trained administrator, and his knowledge of the game is unparalleled. His passion for football is evident in everything he does, and his commitment to developing the sport in Zimbabwe is unwavering.

As he bids to become a member of the ZIFA board, Hara is confident that his experience, expertise, and passion for football make him the ideal candidate for the job. His journey to this point has been long and winding, but he is ready for the challenge ahead.

“I am excited about the opportunity to serve on the ZIFA board. I believe that my experience and expertise make me well-suited for the role, and I am confident that I can make a positive contribution to the development of football in Zimbabwe.”
