Harry Kane skips Spurs training

LONDON. — Harry Kane has not shown up to Tottenham’s pre-season training amid speculation around his future at the English club.

The 28-year-old was due to return to Hotspur Way yesterday morning following a short holiday.

Kane failed to arrive for training for a Covid test prior to a fitness session today, in an attempt to put pressure on chairman Daniel Levy.

Kane’s decision to stay away from the training ground is not due to a Covid-related issue.

Reports on Sunday suggested the forward was set to tell club he wants to move to the Etihad to join Pep Guardiola’s side, who are also closing in on a £100 million deal for Jack Grealish.

Kane wants to join his England team-mate at the Etihad but Levy has made it clear he will refuse to accept a bid of less than £150m for Kane, who has three years remaining on his contract.

City have £45m from the sale of Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich last year and have already raised around £50m from the sale of fringe players this summer.

More are due to be sold while there is an acceptance that the likes of Bernardo Silva could yet leave before the end of the window to further offset their spending.

But £150m could still prove to be too much for City to pay out, with Guardiola previously insisting the club could not afford such an outlay.

Kane, who has scored 221 goals in 336 games for Spurs, spoke of his desperation to win silverware in an interview Gary Neville.

While Spurs fans are desperate for their star man to stay, Kane has admitted a “crossroads moment” is coming this summer — and even thinks there is a chance Levy and Co will be happy to let him leave.

Sky Sports News exclusively reported in May that Kane had told Spurs he wanted to leave this summer with Man City, Manchester United and Chelsea interested.

At the end of June, Manchester City made a £100m bid for the England captain.

Kane is valued at upwards of £120m and Tottenham are keen to keep him despite the striker believing he has a gentleman’s agreement with Levy. — Sky Sports.
