AS Zimbabwe’s highly anticipated harmonised elections draw near, presidential candidate Mr Harry Peter Wilson has taken a resolute stance on fostering peace and unity within the nation.
Mr Wilson said there is a need for a peaceful electoral process and a harmonious post-election period, regardless of the results.
“Our beloved nation deserves to witness a democratic exercise that is not marred by violence or discord. Let us come together as Zimbabweans, respecting our differences and upholding the spirit of democracy that has always been at the heart of our nation’s identity.”
Mr Wilson’s call for tranquility comes at a crucial juncture, with the harmonised elections scheduled to take place on Wednesday. With tensions often running high during electoral seasons, his emphasis on peace and unity underscores the importance of a smooth and nonviolent process.
“I urge all citizens to exercise their democratic right to vote peacefully. Let us remember that our actions not only impact the present but also shape the future of Zimbabwe. The results will come, but what matters most is how we handle ourselves in the aftermath.”
The presidential candidate called for a peaceful post-election period.
“Even after the results are announced, our duty to uphold peace does not waver. Regardless of the outcome, I implore all Zimbabweans to come together, to respect the rule of law, and to seek common ground for the betterment of our nation.”
Mr Wilson’s message strikes a chord with peace-loving Zimbabweans supporters as his emphasis on national unity goes beyond mere political rhetoric.
President Mnangagwa has already called for a smoother electoral process that is characterised by understanding and cooperation rather than division.
