DIVINE Lunga has won it all with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Sundowns were crowned CAF Champions League winners, with the Zimbabwean defender the latest player from Zimbabwe to lift the continental trophy.
Sundowns beat AS FAR 2-1 on aggregate in the final on Sunday.
The Warriors defender started the second leg, which finished 1-1 in Rabat, having won the first leg 1-0 in Pretoria a week earlier.
Lunga was also shown a yellow card in the first half after conceding a penalty, which was converted by AS FAR captain Mohamed Hrimat.
Teboho Mokoena netted the equaliser just before half-time, while Ronwen Williams later saved another penalty to help Sundowns seal the aggregate victory and claim their second African title.
According to CAF, the winners of this season’s Champions League will receive US$6 million in prize money following an increase announced earlier this year.
The triumph has also secured Sundowns a place at the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup as well as the 2026 FIFA Inter-continental Cup.
Runners-up AS FAR are set to receive US$4 million for reaching the final. — Zimpapers Sports Hub/Agencies
