THE founder of the popular clothing label, Hatipfeke Junk (HJ), downed poison in a bid to kill himself on Wednesday, but his life was saved by the prompt intervention of his colleagues.
Jefferson Nyamuchengwa downed the poison at a local hotel.
Sources say he has been battling personal problems with some reports indicating that he owes a substantial amount of money to his business contacts.
“He was booked at a local hotel and it appears he was under pressure over some of his deals,” said a source.
“The reports claim he could be in a big hole in terms of the money which is required to level the deals which these guys are involved in.
“His friends, though, say that there has been little to suggest that Jeff was in real trouble to such an extent he could make an attempt on his life.
“But, that is what happened and various amounts are being tossed around town and we might never know the truth.
“What is not questionable is that Jeff, who is quite a strong character, was under serious pressure for him to do what he did.”
Another source said:
“He is a lucky man because some of his friends are medical doctors and they scrambled to save him.
“He was rushed to a local city hospital and that helped him survive.”
HJ has made a fashion statement with their unique clothing designs that include hats, T-shirts, and vests.
The label has also been involved in the promotion of some musical events.
