right?
Obviously, you guys have come a long way; you have put in a lot of work. You have all deprived yourselves of some sleeping time. You have foregone entertainment and cut yourselves from the rest of your circles all in preparation for these examinations that are finally here.
Do not panic, do not fear. It is normal to be anxious, nervous and jittery. However, try something new. Go on and have fun!
Fun? Yes, Go and enjoy yourselves in that exam room. Know that you are only being tested for what you have done and the preparation you have put in.
Popular belief is that you have to be anxious because of exams and that you have to display that you are feeling the pressure.
But why not decide to go against the flow. You can choose not to worry or not to be anxious either about of the exam.
No amount of worrying will change the amount of preparation you put in. No amount of anxiety will add an extra amount of knowledge and information to that you already have. So why should you stick to this habit and convention.
Make a choice that if you have never enjoyed any exam you will start with this one. Off the surface, this sounds ridiculous right? Probably hear someone saying; “Enjoying exams! What’s there to enjoy about them?” There is every reason to enjoy the testing of your effort because only then can you prove what you are worth.
Despite the result, there is reason to be happy in your days of examinations.
Let’s help you picture why you should be happy and have fun during this period. We will use an example from the sports world to illustrate this picture better.
Picture yourself as an athlete who has been preparing for the Olympic Games for four good years. You put in all the work that you could.
You probably put many hours in the gym, maintained a healthy diet, and had hours with the coach. You even test yourself on your own at times.
During the preparations, you had areas that you were not good at, that you worked so hard to get better in and improve. You managed your weight so that you remain at the top of your game. However, after all that and more your day of testing never came. Would you be happy with such a life?
Would you not prefer to go to the Olympics and race no matter what the outcome is? Won’t you be happy to just have the day when the world will be able to see all the hard work you have been putting for years of preparation.
The same happens with your academic life. You guys have been working so hard for years and now you have the chance to be tested and be rewarded for what you have been doing all along.
That alone should be good reason to go and have fun. Make sure you do not cheat yourself of the feeling that come with this experience. Live one paper at a time now.
You obviously will get some results whether you have fun or not.
Maybe a little bit of fun was going to liven your soul and make you write your exams in a better state of mind and probably enhance your performance.
Have you ever watched the UEFA Champions League matches or the Wimbledon tennis matches?
Usually there are two types of champions. A champion that enjoys the game and still goes on to win, or the champion that is edgy and unsettled for the whole duration of the game.
You make your choice; though both are champions which one would you enjoy watching? The one who enjoyed their game the most, right?
The reason why Ronaldinho became a favourite of many, even for those who did not like football, was because of how he enjoyed the beautiful game.
You too can go on and have fun even at this time of your testing.
Just know that having fun doesn’t mean being complacent or losing focus.
Till next week guys, Wish all candidates the best and God bless you all.
Ciao . . .
