THE Hockey Association of Zimbabwe (HAZ) has congratulated the Zimbabwe women’s senior national cricket team for a job well done in the recently ended 2023 International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s T20 World Africa Qualifier.
The Lady Chevrons managed to assert their dominance as a top team on the continent (besides South Africa), winning the regional tournament to proceed to the final hurdle, which will be the global World Cup Qualifiers next year.
HAZ took to their social media to congratulate the Gary Brent-coached Lady Chevrons team.
“The Zimbabwe Hockey Association would like to congratulate Zimbabwe Women’s Cricket for winning the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier,” they posted on Facebook.
Zimbabwe played five matches and convincingly won all of them. The global qualifier will be hosted in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Lady Chevrons, alongside Uganda, will join the eight other teams that had already qualified to determine who will proceed to the World Cup to take on already-qualified Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies.
Competing at the global qualifiers will be Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uganda, UAE, USA, Vanuatu, and Zimbabwe. – @brandon_malvin
