HBA season kicks off

CHAMPIONS Harare City Hornets start the defence of their title with a tricky tie against Cheetahs at the City Sports Centre this afternoon as the 2017-2018 Harare Basketball League season roars into life.

Hornets, who swept the board last season by winning two local and as many regional tournaments, will also use their opening matches of the campaign to fine-tune ahead of their maiden appearance at the AfroBasketball Championships scheduled for Botswana from October 20 to 26.

Cheetahs coach Langton Moyo reckons his charges will have to be at their best if they are to beat their opponents today.
