HCSL PANJAP CUP quarter finals stage set

…do or die for NLCC

Sports Reporter

NLCC coach, Tapiwa Mtetwa, says he is going to bank on his senior players in a do or die match against Dominion on Sunday in the HCSL PANJAP tournament quarter-final encounter.

The PANJAP cup is sponsored by Brighton Ushendibaba who has been sponsoring the Christian league for a number of seasons.

The Christian League is currently offseason. JCC were crowned champions after a close title contest with Mt Hope.

Championship winners JCC will be facing HCC. JCC are still to lose a game in the competition.

The Christian League is a semi-professional league comprised of Christian churches who are advocating for youths to live in righteous ways and shun criminal activities and abusing drugs.

Speaking ahead of the match, NLCC coach Tapiwa Mtetwa said it’s a do or die game which is a must win for them.

“It’s a do or die match for us,” he said.

“We need to win this match by all means. Our defense need to be water tight as we seek to have an early lead. We hope to lead by two goals in the first half. That will put us in a position where we can safely command the game.

“Our preparation to the match is good. We are raring to go and this time I am going to employ more experienced players to do the task for me.

“In our previous encounter we saw our guys failing to stabilise leading us to concede unnecessary goals. So I think experienced players like Godfrey Mutereke, Domnic Ngwendere, and Levison Banda will give us the edge we are looking for on Sunday,” he said.

In other fixtures Mt Hope will face St Andrews at Old Mutual SC A. HEC will be having an uphill task against AFMZ & SOD at Motor Action SC.
