‘He assaults family when drunk’

A woman has told the court that her husband is in the habit of assaulting her and the children when he is drunk.

Moreblessing Chiseko applied for a protection order against her husband, Kudzai Chiseko, at the Harare Civil Court.

She told magistrate Tamara Chibindi that her husband had become a drunkard, who abuses her and the children.

“My husband assaults and insults me, especially when he is drunk. He is now a problem to the family. Whenever he comes home drunk, he damages property. Anogona kutorova madziro otobuda ropa.

“He wakes up the children and tells them that I am having extramarital affairs,” said Moreblessing.

In response, Kudzai said:

“Your Worship, there is a secret behind all these altercations. She didn’t separate with her boyfriend from school. They are still dating because the man began to torment me at my workplace.

“Now I am staying for the sake of my children. Last time I saw a concoction in a bottle and when I asked her about it, she became violent,” said Kudzai.

Magistrate Chibindi postponed the matter to today.
