‘He forces me to have sex during my menstrual cycle’

A woman yesterday told the court that her sex-obsessed husband forces her to be intimate with him even when she is going through her menstrual cycle. Mercy Makuyana also claimed Peacemaker Vhumba was refusing to acquire birth certificates for their two children.

She revealed this at the Harare Civil Court where she was seeking a protection order against Vhumba whom she accused of breaching her peace.

“He sexually abuses me by forcing me to be intimate with him even when I am going through my menstrual cycle,” she said. Makuyana told magistrate Mr Trevor Nyatsanza that Vhumba also physically and verbally abuses her over petty issues.

“I am sick and tired of being physically and verbally abused in the presence of our children. He becomes violent each time I try to talk to him about acquiring birth certificates for our two minor children,” said Makuyana. Vhumba told the court that he physically abused Makuyana because she was disrespectful towards him as her husband.

Mr Nyatsanza granted the order in Makuyana’s favour which barred Vhumba from physically, sexually and verbally abusing her.
