A 45-year-old man insults his mother whenever he is under the influence of drugs, the Harare Civil Court heard yesterday.
Spiwe Nyamayedenga was granted a protection order against her son, Edwin Nyamayedenga, 45, whom she accused of constantly disturbing her peace.
“He insults me whenever he is drunk and doesn’t even consider that I am his mother.
“I have no rest because of his behaviour.
“As a mother, it is painful to raise a son only for him to insult you in return.
“Worse still he is not working and I am the one looking after him,” she said.
Edwin did not oppose the application.
“I act in such a manner because of frustration.
“I usually get drunk due to stress and only insult her when I am drunk.
“I am staying with her because I lost my job and once I get another job I will move out,” he said.
Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the application by consent and ordered Edwin not to insult or harass his mother and to maintain peace with her.
