A Harare woman has been granted a protection order against her husband whom she accuses of physical abuse and insulting her every time he is drunk.

Noreen Gwatidzo yesterday told the court that she could no longer bear the beatings, and sought a protection order against her husband, Tonderai Kambanje.

“He is always drunk and then he comes home late and insults me using obscenities in front of the children.

“He also assaults me and I am now living in fear because he might harm me or even kill me.

“He also comes to my workplace to cause havoc as a way of embarrassing me,” she said.

Kambanje did not oppose the application and Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted it by consent.

She told Kambanje not to insult, assault, harass or threaten his wife.
