‘He stole my wife, l took his cattle’

Morgan Komboni (35) of Ruvako Village in Chirumanzu will forever regret ever taking matters into his own hands after being sentenced to nine years in jail for stock theft and domestic violence. Mvuma Magistrate Vimbai Makora presided over the case. The court heard that in early June 2016, Komboni was tipped off by fellow villagers that his brother, Tariro, was having an affair with his wife.

He then confronted the missus, prompting her to reveal that the affair was three years old. He assaulted her while Tariro fled to Zambia. On June 9, Komboni slaughtered two of Tariro’s cattle.

Tariro then made a police report, thereby leading to Kombani’s arrest. In his defence, Komboni said Tariro had called him from Zambia and given him the beasts as compensation for the affair but Tariro maintained that his brother had stolen them. Mr Michael Kazomba prosecuted.
