Headman Kohomela of Beitbridge West installed

MR JOIN Kohomela Mbedzi of Ward 9 was on Monday formally installed as Headman Kohomela by Chief Tshitaudze at a colorful ceremony held at Sita 2.

The event was attended by various stakeholders, among them Chief Matibe and other traditional leaders.

His sister, Mrs Juliet Mbedzi, has been acting headman since 2022.

Presiding over the ceremony, Chief Tshitaudze explained the duties of the headman and encouraged the new headman to be a champion of community development.

He also advised him to lead from the front in fighting social ills, among them child marriages, drug abuse and common crime.

Headman Kohomela (58), is succeeding his father, who died in 2018. There are 10 headmanships in Beitbridge District.
