Headmen linked to Mliswa snub police

Crime Reporter
The headmen that Mr Temba Mliswa claimed were abducted for supporting his candidacy in the Hurungwe West by-election slated for June 10 are not co-operating with investigations, police said yesterday.

Police in Mashonaland West province are keen to interview Mr Morgan Gora (44), alias Headman Kapambara, and Mr Alec Munawa, alias Headman Mangisi, over the alleged abduction reports.

The pair was in Harare last week selling tobacco at Premier Tobacco Auction Floors.

The developments came after one of the alleged victims, Mr Gora alias Headman Kapambara, made a report at Hurungwe Police Station.

Police are failing to locate the pair.

The matter is being handled by Criminal Investigations’ Department (CID) Law and Order Section.

Sources believe the headmen were influenced by Mr Mliswa not to co-operate with police investigations.

Last week Mashonaland West provincial crime prevention officer Superintendent Pedzai Dzindimu dismissed claims in NewsDay that the two had been abducted and tortured.

The newspaper claimed they were abducted at a Zanu-PF rally in Hurungwe West before they resurfaced and alleged torture by Zanu-PF.
