Health deputy minister dies

Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care and National Assembly member for Chakari, Dr Aldrin Musiiwa has died. He was 51.

Dr Musiiwa died on Friday morning while attending a Global Human Resources Conference in Dublin, Ireland. He had visited the country with other officials from his ministry on Government business. Health and Child Care Permanent Secretary Dr Gerald Gwinji announced Dr Musiiwa’s death.

“The Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, Mr Aldrin Musiiwa, at the age of 51 collapsed and died in Dublin, Ireland on Friday 17 November 2017 where he had gone with a delegation of Ministry of Health and Child Care to attend the Global Human Resources Conference,” he said.

“Arrangements are under way to repatriate his body as soon as the administrative processes are done. The Ministry is saddened by this sudden occurrence and stand with his wife, five children and the whole family as they go through this dark period in their lives.”

Burial arrangements will be announced in due course. Mourners are gathered at 15 Trail Avenue, Mt Pleasant.
